AP source: Nuggets’ Jokic tests positive for coronavirus

All-Star forward Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has tested positive for the coronavirus and is quarantining in his native Serbia, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Jokic is expected to return to Denver long before the team leaves for the Disney complex for the restart of the NBA season next month, said the person who spoke to Sports Betting News on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because neither the player nor the team acknowledged the positive test publicly. ESPN and The Denver Post previously reported Jokic’s positive test, which came on the same day that another top Serbian athlete – Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked men’s tennis player – revealed that he and his wife had tested positive for the virus.

Although James Harden is Houston’s undisputed star, he can’t top Russell Westbrook entirely on his own. As is so often the case, Patrick Beverley was there for support Sunday night. Harden scored 37 points to outshine Westbrook, and the Rockets pulled away in the third quarter and coasted to a 118-87 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

Following the short-handed 76ers’ unlikely victory over the Miami Heat on Saturday night, Joel Embiid calmly chatted with fans at center court. There was no dancing this time, but no one would’ve blamed Embiid if he busted a few celebratory moves like he did during a Meek Mill concert the previous night. Nerlens Noel, Robert Covington and Dario Saric each scored 19 points to lead Philadelphia to a 117-109 victory over Miami, snapping the Heat’s winning streak at 13 games.
