The Utah Jazz have agreed to trade Simone Fonteccio to the Detroit Pistons for Kevin Knox, a 2024 second round pick via the Washington Wizards and the draft rights to Gabriele Procida.
Fonteccio will be a restricted free agent this offseason and the Jazz received interest on him from multiple teams with the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns being amongst them.
The Pistons hope to re-sign Fonteccio and keep him as part of their long-term core.
The new center’s season is over, cruelly ended by a shocking injury. The Cavaliers got some expected news Wednesday when Andrew Bogut was ruled out for the remainder of the season – including the playoffs – after breaking his left leg on Monday night just 58 seconds into his debut with Cleveland. Bogut, who typically defends near the basket, rushed out to guard Miami’s Okaro White and the two had a knee-to-shin collision that ended the 7-footer’s season.
It wasn’t easy for Boston, but Kyrie Irving’s 37 points and a strong finish in the final minutes gave the Celtics a 2-0 lead in their first-round series.
