Tyus Jones, Suns Agree To One-Year, $3.3M DealTyus Jones, Suns Agree To One-Year, $3.3M Deal

Point guard Tyus Jones and the Phoenix Suns have agree to a one-year deal. Jones will sign with Phoenix for the veteran minimum for next season.

Jones told ESPN that he and his agent considered multiple sign-and-trade opportunities. In the end, Jones felt that signing with the Suns was the best way to rebuild his value before going back onto the free agent market next summer.

As a first-time starter last season, Jones averaged career-highs nearly across the board for the Washington Wizards. Jones averaged 12.0 points on 49/41/80 shooting splits and 7.3 assists in 66 games.

After having point guard be an issue for the entirety of last season, Phoenix addressed the position this summer. The Suns have added Jones and Monte Morris to bring into two veterans for depth at the lead ballhandler spot.

LeBron James was at dinner with his family following the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the New York Knicks when he learned of the Anthony Davis trade to the Dallas Mavericks, sources told Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

James was reportedly surprised by the news and had no idea it was being discussed, according to sources.

“The deal materialized in the shadows,” according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Marc Stein reported that Luka Doncic did not request a trade.

“Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, the players, coaches, a lot of people on both sides of the Mavericks and Lakers had no idea. I can assuredly tell you…LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade,” added Charania.
