Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was a recent guest on Podcast P with Paul George. Young touched on a lot of subjects, including the failed partnership with Dejounte Murray in the Hawks backcourt.

“It’s tough cause we wanted to win,” Young said. “We’re not the first duo that couldn’t work and we’re not going to be the last.”

Young explained that Murray is a lifelong friend, but things just didn’t work out on the court. The Hawks guard said that both he and Murray realized that they didn’t win enough to keep Atlanta from making a move.

Lakers Not Interested In Pursuing Kyrie Irving; Mavericks Optimistic He’ll Re-SignLakers Not Interested In Pursuing Kyrie Irving; Mavericks Optimistic He’ll Re-Sign

The Los Angeles Lakers are not interested in pursuing Kyrie Irving in free agency, sources tell Tim Cato of The Athletic.

The Mavericks began to conceptualize the possibility of acquiring Irving last November when he was suspended for refusing to apologize for posting a film with antisemitic views to his social media. The front office saw it as an opportunity to acquire a player at a lower cost than is typical for a player of Irving’s ability.

Coach Phil Jackson agrees with Kobe Bryant — the Los Angeles Lakers need help. “Kobe and I are very much in collusion in that we want to have an opportunity and we want this team to have an opportunity to succeed,” said Jackson, inducted Friday night into the Basketball Hall of Fame. “And one of Kobe’s complaints is to improve the talent and give him the teammates he can compete with.
