The Boston Celtics are engaged in serious talks to acquire Cleveland Cavailers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported both teams are nearing a deal that would send Irving to the Celtics, but details are still being worked out. The Vertical was the first to report about
Kyrie Irving is seeking a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets, but his agent tells Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report that discussions have yet to commence.
Irving is in the final season of his current deal and would become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if an extension isn’t reached.
“Around Kyrie and staying with the Nets? I have reached out to the Nets regarding this,” his agent Shetellia Irving told Bleacher Report. “We have had no significant conversations to date. The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with the right type of extension, which means the ball is in the Nets’ court to communicate now if their desire is the same.”
Irving is eligible for a max extension of four years and roughly $200 million.
The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes over 25 games as a freshman at USC. Bronny had an uneven freshman season on a disappointing USC team after recovering from his cardiac arrest last summer.
During the second round, Rich Paul reportedly told teams that Bronny would play in Australia next season if they were to take him. Bronny only held individual workouts with the Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
While LeBron James may no longer have had prioritized playing alongside Bronny, it clearly was preferred by their camp. This will be the first time in NBA history that a father and son will play in the league at the same time.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that the James family and some of their closest friends watched the draft together in New York City. When Bronny was drafted, LeBron made a champagne toast and got emotional talking about their journey leading to this moment.
