The Brooklyn Nets are resetting a bit after trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks. Brooklyn is very familiar with one of the players they acquired for Irving, as Spencer Dinwiddie was with the Nets from 2016 to 2021.

But that reunion may not last long. Brooklyn could flip Dinwiddie in another deal, as the Nets figure out how to build the most complementary roster around Kevin Durant.

Dinwiddie cannot be aggregated with any other players to increase the amount of salary the Nets can send in a trade. But Dinwiddie’s $20.2 million salary for this season is enough that Brooklyn could still get a good player for him alone. The veteran guard’s contract for next season recently became fully guaranteed at $21 million, by virtue of Dinwiddie hitting games-played markers.
