Scout: Victor Wembanyama ‘Not Impactful At All On Offense’Scout: Victor Wembanyama ‘Not Impactful At All On Offense’

Victor Wembanyama is shooting 14-for-62 (22.6 percent) on three-pointers this season and 41 percent from the field. Wembanyama is already one of the NBA’s best defensive players, but his ability to create efficient offense will go a long ways in determining his ceiling.

“He’s absolutely awesome on defense, and not impactful at all on offense,” an opposing scout, who firmly believes in Wembanyama’s long-term potential, told ESPN. “He just looks like he’s playing without a whole lot of direction.”

“There’s a reason he’s shooting so many,” another scout told ESPN, “but it still feels like he’s giving the opposition a break every time he does it right now.”

Another scout told ESPN that Wembanyama appears tired early this season. Wembanyama played in 71 NBA games last season followed by the Paris Olympics.

Last season, Wembanyama shot 26.3 percent and then 27.3 percent on three-pointers in October and November. In February, Wembanayma shot 41.3 percent on three-pointers before it dipped to 30.8 percent in March.

Kevin Love doesn’t appear bothered by back spasms or trade rumors. LeBron James had 32 points and 10 assists, Love added 23 points and 16 rebounds in his return, and Cleveland beat the New York Knicks 111-104. The Cavaliers won for the ninth straight time against the Knicks and didn’t even need Kyrie Irving, who didn’t play because of right quadriceps soreness.
