Sneaky-good teams to watch: Blue Jackets, Blues, Bolts

One of hockey’s most iconic shrines still stands at the corner of Atwater and Rue Ste-Catherine, overlooking Cabot Square and amid the Shaughnessy Village’s Victorian grey-stone row houses and Parisian-styled apartment blocks in downtown Montreal. Aside from a few identifying banners on its black, painted-over walls, there are few remaining hints of the rich history of the Montreal Forum. The building where the Stanley Cup was awarded 15 times — including 12 to the hometown Canadiens — is now home to a multiplex theater.

The Coyotes can make the worst kind of history with a loss on Monday. The Arizona Coyotes surely deserve a better fate than what they’ve been dealt. After Saturday night’s 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils, the Coyotes dropped to 0-10-1 on the season as the only winless NHL team left in the league.

Belgium’s men broke new ground by winning Olympic hockey gold for the first time at the Tokyo Game while the Netherlands claimed a record fourth women’s title. There was also joy for India’s men, whose bronze was their first medal since the last of their eight golds in 1980. India’s women missed bronze by a whisker, finishing fourth.
