Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension.
Kerr’s deal makes him the highest paid coach in NBA history in terms of annual average at $17.5 million per year. Gregg Popovich makes more than Kerr on an annual basis, but he is also president of the San Antonio Spurs. Erik Spoelstra’s eight-year deal pays him approximately $15 million per year.
The agreement completes months of talks between Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kerr’s representatives.
Miami’s Josh Richardson flung his sneaker into the stands in disgust before being ejected from Sunday’s 113-97 loss to the visiting Lakers.
