Ricky Rubio and the Cleveland Cavaliers have begun discussions on a buyout.

Rubio has been on leave in Spain this season as he manages mental health issues. Sources say there are serious doubts of whether Rubio will ever play basketball again. Rubio is not expected to play this season as the very least.

Rubio is making $6.1 million this season and his contract for next year is guaranteed at $4.25 million.

The Cavs signed Rubio to a three-year, $18.5 million deal in the summer of 2022, while he was nursing a torn ACL suffered in January 2022.

The Cavaliers are currently without Darius Garland and Evan Mobley from their starting lineup.
