Yanks to discuss Torre’s future Tuesday

From left are Don Mattingly, Joe Girardi and Tony La Russa. Mattingly and Girardi are the top candidates to replace New York Yankee manager Joe Torre. LaRussa, whose contract with St. Louis ran out, is another possibility.

Yankees officials will convene at their complex in Tampa, Fla., starting Tuesday morning to debate the future of Joe Torre. Torre has led New York to the playoffs in all 12 of his seasons, but owner George Steinbrenner told The Record on Oct. 6 that he didn’t think he’d bring back the manager if the Yankees failed to advance to the AL championship series.

With a year of experience behind him and an additional pitch in his repertoire, Dylan Bundy appears poised to make the next step in his progression to big league ace. Bundy struck out eight over seven impressive innings, and the Baltimore Orioles used home runs by Adam Jones and Chris Davis to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 Wednesday night.
