Baseball’s best players and managers of 2024 collect their hardware this week — starting with a pair of young pitchers from the Pirates and Yankees.

Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes was named the National League’s Rookie of the Year on Monday, beating out a loaded field that included Jackson Merrill and Jackson Chourio, and New York Yankees starter Luis Gil won the the award in the American League.

Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki and pitcher CC Sabathia are among 14 new candidates on the Hall of Fame ballot released Monday, joining 14 holdovers led by reliever Billy Wagner.
