New York Knicks big man Precious Achiuwa will miss at least two to four weeks due to a strained left hamstring. Achiuwa was set to be New York’s top backup big this season.
New York will also be without Mitchell Robinson to begin the season. In addition, the Knicks currently have three open roster spots. New York can currently only fill two of the spots, due to being approximately $3.6 million under the second apron hard cap.
Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson didn’t flinch when asked about being in constant trade rumors. Johnson said that’s not something he’s worried about with the season about to begin.
“I’ve been able to feel comfortable in what’s going on,” Johnson said. “And even with the uncertainty, it’s not like an uncertainty where I don’t think that our staff here, our front office here, has a lack of trust in me. So I feel confident in this group. I feel confident going forward. And I’m going to compete for this team. And it’s not even on my mind, really.
“I mean, there’s tons and tons and tons of basketball to be played here.”
With Mikal Bridges having been traded to the New York Knicks this offseason, the Nets are counting on Johnson to step up this season.
“He’s been amazing,” new Brooklyn head coach Jordi Fernandez said about his veteran wing. “I can’t say enough great things about him.”
