Grizzlies Trade Ziaire Williams, 2030 2nd Round Pick To Nets For Mamadi DiakiteGrizzlies Trade Ziaire Williams, 2030 2nd Round Pick To Nets For Mamadi Diakite
The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to trade Ziaire Williams and a 2030 second round pick originating from the Dallas Mavericks to the Brooklyn Nets for Mamadi Diakite. Williams was the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Stanford and appeared in 51 games last season with the Grizzlies, averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.3 minutes. Williams is represented by Aaron Mintz.
Williams fell behind GG Jackson II and Vince Williams II on the depth chart for the Grizzlies. By clearing Williams’ $6.1 million salary for the 24-25 season, the Grizzlies move $10 million the luxury tax and $14 million below the first apron. Diakite is on a $2.3 million salary, but only $1.39 million is guaranteed.
The Nets will hope Williams can become a second draft success story as they take on his salary before his restricted free agency in 2025.

Knicks Checked In On Clint CapelaKnicks Checked In On Clint Capela
The New York Knicks checked with the Atlanta Hawks on the trade availability of center Clint Capela. It’s unclear how deep those conversations got, but New York is known to be searching for additional depth at the center position.
One challenge in acquiring Capela is his $22.3 million salary for this season. The Knicks would have to part with at least one rotation player to add Capela via trade.
New York lost Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency. That’s left the Knicks with the talented, but injury-prone Mitchell Robinson and third-stringer Jericho Sims as the team’s centers.
