The Detroit Pistons have claimed Paul Reed off waivers. Reed will enter Year 2 of a three-year, $24 million contract signed with the Utah Jazz in 2023 that was subsequently matched by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers waived Reed in order to create additional cap space.

Reed appeared in all 82 games last season with the Sixers, averaging 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19.4 minutes.

In 62 games last season, Cunningham averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists with a PER of 16.9.

Cunningham was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Oklahoma State.

Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets have made some progress on a contract extension. For now, Murray and Denver have put those discussions aside to allow the star guard to focus on the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Murray is competing for Canada on the senior level for the first time. He’s missed previous competitions due to injury. Canada is considered a favorite to medal at the Olympics for the first time since winning a silver medal in 1936.

The Nuggets guard is eligible to sign a four-year, $207.8 million extension this offseason. Murray could delay signing in hopes of making an All-NBA next season. If he did that, Murray would be eligible to sign a new five-year deal worth a projected $313.9 million.
