The New Orleans Pelicans have acquired Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks for two first round picks, Larry Nance Jr. and Dyson Daniels.

The Pelicans will send the Los Angeles Lakers’ first round pick in 2025, plus the least favorable 2027 first round pick between the Pelicans and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pelicans deferred their acceptance of a first round pick from the Lakers in this year’s draft to receive it in 2025.

Murray signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Hawks during the 2023 offseason. Murray is represented by Rich Paul and cannot become a free agent until 2027 with his player option for 27-28. Murray has the NBA’s largest trade bonus at $12 million, which can be negotiated down.

The Hawks entered the offseason widely expected to trade either Murray or Trae Young with this deal clarifying their outlook. Atlanta discussed a Murray trade with the Pelicans at the trade deadline.

Chris Paul Agrees To Move $30M Guarantee Date To June 30 As Warriors Continue To Pursue TradeChris Paul Agrees To Move $30M Guarantee Date To June 30 As Warriors Continue To Pursue Trade

Chris Paul and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to move back his $30 million guarantee date to the start of free agency on Sunday, June 30th. The deadline was originally on Friday.

This decision allows the Warriors to continue to explore trade possibilities such as a deal for Paul George. The Warriors are known to have “legitimate interest” in trading for George, who has until Saturday to opt-in to his contract for 24-25.

If Paul is traded, his $30 million contract becomes guaranteed. If Paul becomes a free agent, his salary for the 24-25 season will surely be far lower than that amount after averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 26.4 minutes over 58 games with the Warriors.

Paul is represented by Steven Heumann and Ty Sullivan of CAA. George also has a CAA agent in Aaron Mintz.
