The Sacramento Kings offered Mike Brown a three-year contract extension worth $21 million, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The deal could increase to $27 million with bonuses.
Brown is believed to be seeking around $10 million per season.
The Golden State Warriors are expected to express interest in trading for Jimmy Butler should he become available, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Butler is interested in a two-year extension this offseason, which the Miami Heat are believed to be resistant to offering.
Brandon Ingram, however, is not a potential trade target that the Warriors would expected to be interested in pursuing. There has been considerable speculation that the New Orleans Pelicans will entertain trading Ingram as they balance out their roster and salary cap.
Klay Thompson appears likely to hit the open market as a free agent as he and the Golden State Warriors haven’t had any notable movement on an extension, sources tell The Athletic.
The Warriors would like to retain Thompson if the contract price is workable and after other aspects of their roster are clarified.
Thompson would like to win and isn’t likely to consider a larger offer if it is from a rebuilding team.
Thompson could command a shorter term deal at a large contract amount given his age and injury history.
Dereck Lively II has been upgraded to questionable for Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Lively missed Game 4 due to a neck sprain.
Maxi Kleber also returned to the Mavs lineup in Game 4.
The Washington Wizards have named Brian Keefe as head coach.
Keefe becomes the 26th head coach in the organization’s history.
“We are excited for Brian to become our next head coach. Brian is a proven motivator and connector of people,” said Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins. “As a leader in the organization, he will continue to positively grow and invest into the development of our players. His wealth of experience will help move our team forward as we build for long-term sustained success.”
Keefe was originally named interim head coach on January 25, 2024, with the team seeing improvement in defensive rating, overall net rating, and opponent three-point percentage over the remainder of the regular season.
