NBA commissioner Adam Silver is finalizing a contract extension. Silver’s extension is expected to run through the end of the decade.
Silver has been the NBA’s commissioner since David Stern retired in 2014. Prior to becoming commissioner, Silver had served as the NBA’s deputy commissioner for eight years.
Joel Embiid was a late scratch for the Philadelphia 76ers matchup at the Denver Nuggets on Saturday afternoon. Embiid missed the game due to left knee soreness.
The 76ers training staff reportedly made the decision after watching Embiid warm up for the game on Saturday.
This was Embiid’s 11th missed game this season. The Sixers star center can only miss six more games this season in order to remain eligible for postseason awards, including repeating as NBA MVP.
Under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, players must play in at least 65 games to be eligible for postseason awards.
New York Knicks forward Julius Randle suffered a dislocated right shoulder on Saturday. Randle was injured with 4:27 remaining in the Knicks home victory over the Miami Heat.
Randle landed hard when Heat rookie forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. attempted to take a charge. Randle immediately checked himself out of the, following the injury.
An X-ray reportedly didn’t show much damage. Randle is schedule to undergo an MRI on Saturday evening.
