Luka Doncic scored a career-high 73 points in the Dallas Mavericks’ 148-143 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

Doncic, who also finished with 10 rebounds and 7 assists, tied Wilt Chamberlain and David Thompson for the fourth-highest scoring output in league history.

“Those names are special. It’s unbelievable,” said Doncic after the game.

Doncic finished 25-of-33 from the field and went 8-of-13 from 3.

“Some say they are a system, he is the game plan. His ability to make shots, create shots, find open guys, he did that at a high level tonight,” said Jason Kidd after the game.

Doncic’s output represented the 15th 70-point game in league history.

Doncic’s previous career-high was 60 points.

The Washington Wizards have shown interest in trading for Quentin Grimes of the New York Knicks. Grimes has drawn interest from several teams ahead of the trade deadline.

The Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz were previously reported as talking about trading for Grimes.

The third-year guard has averaged 7.0 points per game. Grimes has seen a lessened role this year, as he’s started only 18 games and is averaging 19.8 minutes per game. Those are down from starting 66 of 71 games and playing 29.9 minutes per game last season.

The Wizards are believed to be looking to add young talent and draft picks. ESPN recently reported that Washington’s front office has a mandate from ownership to add more draft capital via trades.
