The Miami Heat continue to have “bona fide” interest in trading for Donovan Mitchell, sources tell Marc Stein of Substack.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have maintained a position that they have no interest at all in entertaining a Mitchell trade. Mitchell can become a free agent in 2025 if he doesn’t sign an extension during the 2024 offseason.

The Heat previously pursued Mitchell in 2022, as well as Damian Lillard in 2023.

While the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets will continue to be mentioned in any trade for Mitchell, multiple executives believe the Heat are the “prime team to watch for” due to how well they would complement his game and his defensive liabilities.

The Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard to a three-year, $152.4 million extension on Wednesday.

The Clippers would also like to sign George to a long-term contract. Leonard’s deal likely sets a floor for a new contract for George.

James Harden is not eligible to sign a new contract until the offseason.

Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a three-year, $152.4 million contract extension that runs through the 26-27 season.

Leonard will remain with the Clippers as they open their new arena in Inglewood at the start of the 24-25 season. Leonard joined the Clippers in free agency in 2019.

Leonard will not hold a player option in his new deal, which is approximately $8.5 million under his max over three seasons.
