The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired Jrue Holiday as part of its long-awaited Damian Lillard trade.

But the Blazers are committed to building around its young guards in Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe, and they will seek a trade of Holiday elsewhere.

The Miami Heat have been mentioned by Adrian Wojnarowski as a possible trade partner for Holiday. According to Kyle Neubeck, the Philadelphia 76ers are also interest in Holiday.

Holiday can become a free agent in 2024.

The Blazers are already trying to trade Holiday elsewhere as they continue their rebuild.

Lillard requested a trade from the Blazers on July 1st with the Miami Heat as his preferred destination.

The Brooklyn Nets will have Ben Simmons on the court when training camp starts next week. Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said that Simmons is 100% for the start of camp and that the versatile guard/forward will do 5-on-5 work from the jump.

Simmons has appeared in 42 games for Brooklyn, since the team acquired him at the 2022 NBA trade deadline. Simmons missed the last 24 games of the regular season and the playoffs for the Nets last season, due to a back injury.

Simmons recently said his back is in a better place than it has been in years. He also said he expects to play point guard for the Nets this upcoming season.

The Golden State Warriors said they wanted to fill out their bench with veterans who wouldn’t be distractions. That’s led them to Rudy Gay, who will go to camp with Golden State to compete for a roster spot for his 18th NBA season.

Gay was traded by the Utah Jazz for John Collins in a salary-clearing deal by the Atlanta Hawks earlier this offseason. The Hawks then traded Gay to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who subsequently waived the veteran forward.

Last season, Gay averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game over 56 appearances with the Jazz. He’s also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs in his 17-year career.
