In an appearance on Behind the Play, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said there could be some momentum on a Damian Lillard trade. Windhorst reported that the Portland Trail Blazers want to make a Lillard deal before training camp starts.
“The Blazers are trying,” said Windhorst. “For weeks, I don’t think there was any movement, but I do think in these last seven to 10 days, there’s been movement on the Blazers’ front. There are attempts to make things happen. Only the Blazers know what they’re holding in their hands in terms of real offers.”
Portland is scheduled to host Media Day on Monday, October 2 with training camp starting the next day on Tuesday, October 3.
On ESPN’s NBA Today show, Ramona Shelburne reported that she has also heard Malcolm Brogdon isn’t happy with the Boston Celtics. However, Shelburne said it’s not being in trade talks that has Brogdon upset.
“I don’t think the bad feelings are over including him in any trade discussions,” Shelburne said. “I think a lot of this has to do with what’s going on with his elbow.”
Shelburne said that Brogdon understands the trade process and will handle that professionally. Her understanding is that the veteran guard has concerns on where his elbow is at, and how that has been handled since he was injured in last season’s playoffs.
