The Portland Trail Blazers have told the Miami Heat to “make your best offer” for Damian Lillard,” reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Lillard requested a trade to the Heat on July 1st, but the two sides have yet to hold any meaningful dialogue. Both the Blazers and Heat have postured as though they have considerably more leverage than the other side and neither team appears to be in a rush.

“I’m told the sides have spoken but not about anything significant and that there is no real traction on any deal yet,” writes Charania.

The San Antonio Spurs are exploring the idea of a downtown arena to replace AT&T Center, which has been their home since 1999.

The Spurs’ lease at AT&T Center expires in 2032.

“People are having a conversation about an arena for the Spurs downtown,” said Eddie Aldrete, who ran the successful campaign for public funding for the AT&T Center.

The site of the downtown arena could also include a minor league baseball stadium for the San Antonio Missions. The two projects could be built side by side that would create a downtown professional sports district.

On the most recent episode of The Lowe Post podcast, ESPN’s Zach Lowe touched on the James Harden trade situation. Lowe said things with Harden’s trade request are at “a total stalemate”.

“There’s only really one team that he wants to go to, and that team is the Clippers,” Lowe said. “Their level of engagement here to me is unclear/not super enthusiastic.”

Lowe also said the chances of Harden returning to the Philadelphia 76ers seems unlikely as of now.

“I don’t know what to make of the possibility that Harden would ever go back to Philly. I continue to hear from people who would know that the bridge is burned,” Lowe said. “But that’s what people who would know would say on July 17, with two months or whatever before training camp.”
