The Dallas Mavericks are in advanced talks to hire Dennis Lindsey as a special assistant to Nico Harrison. The Mavericks considered hiring Lindsey in the summer of 2021 to replace Donnie Nelson before hiring Harrison.

The Mavericks have been looking for an experienced sounding-board voice since last offseason.

Harrison’s most recent two hires came from the Brooklyn Nets: Senior director of pro personnel Matt Riccardi and senior director of salary cap and strategy Andrew Baker.

Giannis Antetokounmpo left Game 1 with a lower back contusion and will not return, the Milwaukee Bucks announced.

X-rays on Antetokounmpo’s back returned “clear,” according to Mike Budenholzer.

“We’ll monitor him and see how he wakes up [Monday],” said Budenholzer.

Antetokounmpo initially suffered the injury after taking a charge from Kevin Love in the first quarter.

Antetokounmpo briefly returned to the game in the second quarter before checking back out for good.

Ja Morant left the Memphis Grizzlies’ Game 1 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the fourth quarter with a right hand injury and did not return.

X-rays were negative, though Taylor Jenkins said that Morant was in “some pain.”

Jenkins also added that Morant’s status for Game 2 was “in jeopardy.”

Morant fell on his hand after charging into Anthony Davis on a drive midway through the quarter.

Morant was already playing with the hand wrapped due to an injury suffered during the last week of the regular season.

Morant returned to the Grizzlies bench but did not re-enter the game. The Grizzlies medical staff is currently evaluating Morant’s hand and wrist.
