According to Packers.com, McCarthy addressed the team on Wednesday. “He did a fantastic job talking to the team not just about football and winning football games,� interim coach Joe Philbin told reporters on Thursday.

But on Thursday, the club locked in one of its best arms for the long haul. Carlos Carrasco’s extension was extended. The deal the right-hander signed in 2015 that was scheduled to run through 2020 has been replaced by a new extension through 2022 with a club option for 2023. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.
