Pearce drilled a Joe Smith fastball into the seats over the high wall in left field, his majestic blast putting the Red Sox back on top of the Astros, 3-2, in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.

After Red Sox third baseman Eduardo Nunez legged out an infield single in the top of the fourth inning in Tuesday’s Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, Rafael Devers came on to pinch-run for him. Nunez grimaced as he sprinted down the line at a speed of 29.6 feet per second, according to Statcast™, which was actually well above his season average of 27.5.

ALAMEDA – Rashaan Melvin made five consecutive starts this season, playing significant snaps in each of those contests. Then Raiders coaches told the veteran cornerback Saturday in London that his role would decrease significantly in the next day’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Melvin and Gareon Conley were benched for Daryl Worley and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and the new starters played most every snap in the Raiders’ 27-3 loss.
