Despite a run of less-than-stellar pitching, the Red Sox didn’t add anyone at Friday’s deadline to acquire postseason-eligible players, instead hoping that September callups and hurlers returning from injury would be enough to right the ship. His White Sox counterpart, Carlos Rodon, was sharp until he was chased in Boston’s three-run seventh. Eduardo Nunez, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ian Kinsler homered for the Red Sox.
