Anthony Rizzo drove in the game-tying run with an RBI single in the fifth inning and the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice in the seventh to lift the Cubs to a victory over the Tigers at Wrigley Field. Kyle Schwarber added a solo homer in the eighth to secure Chicago’s fifth straight win, matching its longest streak this season. Albert Almora Jr. and Jason Heyward also drove in runs in the fifth, both on doubles. Detroit’s offense came early, on Jeimer Candelario’s groundout and Niko Goodrum’s double in the first, and James McCann added an RBI single in the fourth. On the mound, the Tigers’ Michael Fulmer delivered a quality start, yielding three runs on six innings, while the Cubs’ Kyle Hendricks gave up three runs over five frames. Pedro Strop notched his second save.
