AVONDALE, La. – Matt Kuchar has come up with another unique way to celebrate birdies in team golf – slapping the face of partner Bubba Watson every time they move up the leaderboard. Kuchar was the man behind the infamous Fresh Prince of Bel Air high fives with Tiger Woods at the 2013 Presidents Cup and has been trying to one-up his game ever since. You name it – Kuchar has tried it. But this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Kuchar and Watson have taken it to another level with the player making the birdie getting a quick slap on the cheek from their partner. “Everybody has got something, some sort of handshake, some sort of fist bump, some sort of tap on the hiney. I figured this was a good opportunity for me to slap Bubba in the face. Everybody wants to do that, and I talked him into it,â€ Kuchar said with his trademark wide grin. On Thursday – in Four-ball play – the pair didn’t play as well as they would have liked, combining for a relatively pedestrian 4-under 68. But they made up for it Friday in alternate shot, carding an impressive 5-under 67 in the more difficult format despite some gusty winds.  At the end of the day I want a bruise. That means we’re doing really good. It was the best score of the morning wave and it put them in striking distance. Watson hoped they could go really deep on Saturday to make up for their slow start when they return to Four-ball play. “At the end of the day I want a bruise. That means we’re doing really good,â€ Watson smiled. “When you think about it, we want you to be inspired to make some more birdies. So we basically slap each other in the face and say, ‘Come on, do another one, get another one.’â€
