Tony Romo couldn’t bring himself to use the word ”retired” and didn’t have an answer for whether he would have decided to replace another former quarterback in Phil Simms as lead analyst for CBS if he hadn’t lost his starting job in Dallas. This much Romo did know: Teams were interested in him continuing his chase for an elusive Super Bowl, and he couldn’t pass up a chance to go straight from the field to a No. 1 booth with Emmy Award-winning play-by-play man Jim Nantz. ”It reminds me of my rookie year where you really don’t know anything,” Romo said.

If Phil Mickelson were in charge, Lexi Thompson would have been the one taking the leap into Poppie’s Pond at the ANA Inspiration. Mickelson tried to avoid speaking specifically about Thompson being penalized four shots for a day-old rules violation for replacing her golf ball in the wrong spot on the putting green.

Jonathan Toews is preparing for a possible showdown with owners. Justin Faulk is just plain angry that the NHL pulled the plug on the Olympics. A day after the NHL said that it will not participate in the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea, disappointed players hit the ice Tuesday and tried to understand how something they have treasured for the past 20 years could be taken away so easily.
