The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed Frostee Rucker to a one-year contract, retaining a veteran presence on the defensive line after losing Calais Campbell in free agency. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Rucker has played 10 NFL seasons, the first six with the Cincinnati Bengals and the last four with Arizona after signing as a free agent with the Cardinals in 2013. The 33-year-old defensive tackle appeared in 13 games last season with 25 tackles and a forced fumble.

Tanaka kept up his strong start this spring by combining with two Yankees relievers on a no-hitter Friday in a 3-0 win over the Tigers. New York manager Joe Girardi didn’t keep the lineup card as a souvenir, but still appreciated the spring training feat.

A California tattoo artist has detailed to jurors the violent artwork he inked on Aaron Hernandez that prosecutors say memorializes the former New England Patriots star’s killing of two men. David Nelson testified Friday in a Boston court that Hernandez visited Hermosa Ink in Hermosa Beach, California, in 2013 specifically seeking a tattoo depicting a revolver that had all but one of the six cylinders loaded with bullets. Hernandez also instructed Nelson to ink two gun muzzles, a spent shell casing and the words ”God Forgives” etched backward so that they could be read in a mirror.

Mangok Mathiang scored 18 points and Deng Adel added 16 Friday to help second-seeded Louisville pull away from Jacksonville State 78-63 in the first round of the Midwest Regional. The Cardinals (25-8) have won five straight opening round games. Louisville was making its first postseason appearance since 2015 after sitting out last year because of a one-year, school-imposed postseason ban for alleged recruiting violations.
