Utah coach Quin Snyder liked his team’s performance on Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets. Rudy Gobert and Gordon Hayward each scored 23 points to help the Jazz beat the Rockets 115-108 for their fourth straight victory. James Harden had 35 points for the Rockets, who have lost two straight for just the third time this season.

David Krejci scored twice and Drew Stafford had his first with Boston during a four-goal first period that carried the Bruins to a 6-1 victory over the struggling Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. Brad Marchand had his team-leading 31st and 32nd goals, David Pastrnak also scored, and Tuukka Rask made 26 saves.

San Antonio won its ninth straight and extended its league record for 50-win seasons to 18 straight, the longest in league history. Sacramento lost its sixth straight despite a season-high 26 points from Tyreke Evans and 15 from rookie Skal Labissiere.

Nick Bonino had a hat trick, Evgeni Malkin scored twice and added an assist and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Winnipeg Jets 7-4 on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. Justin Schultz and Jake Guentzel also scored, and Matt Murray made 31 saves for the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins in the start of a five-game trip. Chad Ruhwedel had three assists, and Mark Streit and Conor Sheary each two.

Payton, who has been up and down all season and has endured two benchings under first-year coach Frank Vogel, was certainly the catalyst Wednesday night.

Jonas Valanciunas had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors emerged with a 94-87 victory Wednesday night over a New Orleans Pelicans squad that played without All-Star forward Anthony Davis during the second half. The Pelicans announced that Davis hurt his left wrist, an injury that appeared to occur when he caught his wrist on the front rim and then crashed to the court during the Pelicans’ final possession of the first half. The Pelicans said X-rays did not reveal any broken bones, but that Davis had a contusion and would be re-evaluated daily.
