The Miami Dolphins put on hold their planned release of left tackle Branden Albert when another team expressed interest in a trade shortly before the roster move was completed Thursday. The Dolphins told Albert he won’t be with them for the 2017 season. The decision to part with Albert clears the way for 2016 first-round draft pick Laremy Tunsil to move over from guard.

Former NFL quarterback Vince Young’s agent says he’s talking to the Saskatchewan Roughriders about his client playing in the Canadian Football League. ”We have opened discussions with Saskatchewan Roughriders,” agent Leigh Steinberg tweeted. Young is on Saskatchewan’s negotiation list, giving it CFL exclusivity to the former University of Texas star.

Shane Battier has returned to the Miami Heat. Battier is now a member of the Heat front office, assuming the newly created role of director of basketball development and analytics. The Heat announced the move Thursday, describing Battier’s new job as one where he will develop analytics to evaluate talent – including college players, free agents and members of the existing roster.
