Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin on Friday officially urged the New York Islanders to consider moving to Connecticut’s capital city. The Democrats sent a letter to the National Hockey League team’s management, offering Hartford’s XL Center as an option for its interim use. The Islanders’ future in Brooklyn was called into question Monday when it was reported arena management wasn’t counting on any revenue from the hockey club beyond the 2018-19 season.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and ESPN have settled a lawsuit over the network’s disclosure of his medical records from a 2015 fireworks accident. ESPN announced the settlement on Friday, saying it believes that the network’s reporting about the injury was newsworthy and journalistically appropriate. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon declined comment.

For those rooting for baseball to speed up the game, Commissioner Rob Manfred says: have patience. Owners and players ratified a new collective bargaining agreement in December, but they’re still negotiating innovations designed to improve the pace of play. ”We did review some rule changes largely related to pace of game that are being discussed with the players’ association,” Manfred said.
