Rick Hendrick, owner of the most successful organization in NASCAR, grew up on a Virginia tobacco farm knowing that wasn’t the life he wanted. It earned him a spot in the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Friday night. Hendrick Motorsports has a NASCAR-leading 15 national titles – 11 in the top series with Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte.

Rudy Gobert had career highs with 27 points and 25 rebounds, including one on his missed free throw in overtime that led to the tying 3-pointer by Joe Johnson, and the Utah Jazz beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-107 on Friday night. After a Dallas miss by Deron Williams and a foul in the aftermath, Joe Ingles put the Jazz ahead to stay with two free throws with 1:35 remaining. Gordon Hayward had 26 points, including a big 3-pointer late in regulation.

Booed relentlessly just a few weeks ago, Robert Covington is quickly becoming one of the most popular athletes in Philadelphia. Covington scored 22 points and made two 3-pointers in the final 40 seconds to lead the streaking 76ers to a come-from-behind 93-92 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. It was Covington’s second game-winning basket this month after his buzzer-beater stunned Minnesota on Jan. 3.

Marc Gasol had 28 points and nine rebounds, Mike Conley added 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and the Memphis Grizzlies coasted to a 107-91 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night. The Grizzlies used the 3-point shooting of Gasol and Zach Randolph to build the advantage to 19 at the end of the third quarter. At that point, Sacramento coach Dave Joerger sat his starters as Memphis eventually would build the advantage to 22 in the fourth.
