The cloud of steroids hovers above Hall of Fame voting, much as it shrouded baseball in the 1990s and early 2000s. Tim Raines, in his 10th and final year of eligibility, appears likely to gain election along with Jeff Bagwell when the Baseball Writers’ Association of America voting is announced Wednesday night. Ivan Rodriguez, eligible for the first time, and Trevor Hoffman also could make it.

After struggling to keep pace with the Minnesota Timberwolves for 24 minutes, San Antonio turned to its defensive stopper and offensive catalyst. Kawhi Leonard has been both for the Spurs all season, showing off his all-around game once again. Leonard had 34 points and San Antonio overcame a strong start by Minnesota for a 122-114 victory Tuesday night.

The Dallas Stars gave up an early goal for the third straight game. Patrick Sharp scored twice, Jamie Benn and Patrick Eaves had a goal and two assists each and the Stars got a wild 7-6 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. Dallas fell behind just 27 seconds in as Derek Stepan scored on the Rangers’ first shot.
