Justise Winslow of the Miami Heat will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder Thursday, and the team expects that he will miss the remainder of the season. Winslow was hurt in the final minute of Miami’s loss in Boston on Friday when he got tangled up with Celtics center Al Horford. The injury was originally diagnosed as a stinger, and even Winslow said earlier this week that he wasn’t worried.

Dennis Schroder scored 18 points, Dwight Howard had 13 points and 12 rebounds and the Atlanta Hawks pulled away late in a 111-92 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night for their fourth straight win. Kent Bazemore scored 17 points, and Paul Millsap had a big second half to finish with 16 points. Bazemore and Millsap knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to close the door on Orlando, which pulled within four points of the lead during the final period.

Woods had been widely expected to start his season at the Jan. 26-29 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in southern California, an event he has won seven times. Woods was scheduled to return at the first event of the 2016-17 season in northern California in October, but pulled out three days beforehand, saying his game was not ready.
