St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa pleaded guilty to driving under the influence Wednesday, eight months after police found him asleep inside his running sport utility vehicle at a stop light and smelling of alcohol. La Russa said he had decided to plead guilty to the misdemeanor because it was in the best interest of all concerned.
Chiefs quarterback Brodie Croyle missed practice for the second straight day Thursday because of a sore back and his availability for Kansas City’s game against San Diego was uncertain. Croyle, a second-year pro and the Chiefs’ quarterback of the future, started the last two games but got hit in the back by a knee in the first quarter last week against Oakland.
