Dallas Stars center Mike Modano, left, and teammate Brenden Morrow (10) sit on the bench in the final minute of the hockey game against the Phoenix Coyotes in Dallas, Texas, Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Modano remained one point short of matching Phil Housley's points record of 1,232 for US-born players. The 37-year-old Modano, the all-time US-born goal-scorer with 509, has been slumping with two goals and three assists in his first 13 games. The Coyotes won 5-0.

Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mikael Tellqvist was sick with the flu. He still turned in a very healthy performance. Tellqvist stopped 35 shots for his fifth career shutout, Radim Vrbata scored a short-handed goal, and the Coyotes beat the Dallas Stars 5-0 on Friday night. “We’ve gotten really strong goaltending, and you’ve got to be a little bit lucky,” Phoenix coach Wayne Gretzky said.
