Jeremy Roenick’s bad right knee refuses to cooperate some days. Then there are other days he feels good enough to play on two lines. Roenick scored a power-play goal early in the second period and the San Jose Sharks finally won at home, beating the Nashville Predators 3-0 on Saturday night. “I feel really strong,” said Roenick, who took the last couple of days off and was questionable.

Although his team’s power play had generated only one goal in 22 chances coming into Saturday’s game in St. Louis, Minnesota Wild center Eric Belanger felt the unit was on the right track. “I know our power play was moving the puck well,” Belanger said. “It was just a matter of time before we scored.” The Wild scored twice with the man advantage Saturday night and that was the difference.

The New York Islanders needed nearly every second to beat the road-weary New Jersey Devils, who didn’t even have Martin Brodeur in net. Bill Guerin knocked a loose puck past backup Kevin Weekes for a power-play tally with 3.7 seconds left on the overtime clock Saturday night, giving the Islanders a 4-3 victory after they squandered a two-goal lead in the third period.
