Van Gundy’s team beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-84 on Saturday, sweeping a two-game preseason series in China between the teams on a special tour to expand the NBA’s audience in the country. On Thursday, the Magic pounded a team of Chinese All-Stars 116-92.

The NBA preseason game between the New Jersey Nets and Boston Celtics was canceled after one half Friday night because of damp court conditions at the DCU Center. Boston led 36-33 at halftime when the game was called because of condensation forming from ice beneath the floor. The 25-year-old city-owned facility is home to the AHL’s Worcester Sharks, an affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.

Mavericks forward Josh Howard was suspended Friday for the first two games of the regular season, punishment for a fight with Sacramento center Brad Miller earlier in the week. Howard was ejected from an exhibition Tuesday against the Kings after delivering a forearm to the back of Miller’s neck. He also pushed Miller, who had shoved Dallas guard Devin Harris to the ground.
