New Vancouver Canucks defenseman Aaron Miller will undergo minor abdominal surgery on Tuesday, one day before the opening of training camp. Miller, who signed a one-year, $1.5-million contract as an unrestricted free agent this summer, is expected to rejoin the Canucks during the preseason, general manager Dave Nonis said in a statement.

Veteran John Carney signed a one-year contract with Jacksonville on Tuesday, giving the Jaguars a replacement for injured placekicker Josh Scobee. Free safety Will Demps signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans on Tuesday.
