Orioles ace Erik Bedard has stopped throwing, increasing the likelihood that the AL strikeout leader will soon be shut down for the season with a strained muscle near his right rib cage. The Seattle Mariners released right-handed reliever Rick White on Thursday, as the team got a rare day off while struggling to stay in the AL wild-card race. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady missed a portion of practice Thursday because of his chronic right shoulder injury. Brady was on the field during the time the media was allowed to view practice, but the team later reported that had he “limited participation.” Patriots coach Bill Belichick was not available for comment.
