Joel Embiid Receives Three-Game Suspension From NBA For Shoving ColumnistJoel Embiid Receives Three-Game Suspension From NBA For Shoving Columnist

The NBA has issued a three-game suspension for Joel Embiid following their investigation into an incident involving a reporter. Embiid shoved Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes following the Philadelphia 76ers’ loss on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Embiid’s suspension will start with the next regular season game he is able to play. Embiid was potentially set to play in Wednesday’s game at the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA,” Joe Dumars said. “While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter’s column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical.”

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Embiid’s suspension will cost him just over $1 million.
